exp2: cryengine environment (final)

this monument can be used as a design studio or an office. it is located on the top of a cliff, next to a waterfall. the idea of the design is to make this piece of architecture a part of landscape. this monument is facing the ocean, and balustrades are made in glass. on the back of the monument, there is a staircase goes under to access the lake, for people to take a swim.
there are 5 images of my monument taken from a distance.

the groups of architectural computing students, engineering students and architectural studies student will meet up on the coast, they will be able to see the monument stands on the cliff not far away.

the image above was the back view of the monunment, which was shot on the cliff, the monunent was designed to be a part of landscape.

it is the side view, the monument was located next to a lake.

this is the night view, couples of blue lights have been set up under the water and  the floor of the monument.
here are some closer views:

here is my chosen model, and developed in google sketchup.

i combined the two monuments above together.
the original two concepts of Walter Burley Grinffin's design are:
1.Geometry—making use of the natural environments geometry in designing the planning of both Canberra and Castlecrag.

2.Group of buildings faced one another to give that sense of separation and administrative zones.
and according to Walter Burley Grinffin's quote:
Griffin predicted the need for urban planning to be flexible to meet the demands of growth and changing needs over time. Griffin said that:
‘Any arrangement looking forward one hundred years has to be elastic, permitting street improvements and construction to proceed little by little, no faster than the city growth demands, but at the same time in a way that will be adequate ultimately without the constant shifting of site uses in the various sections, which has led to terrific waste through destruction of property in all our cities heretofore.’ (Birrell, 1964, p.75)
i came up a new concept:
"exploring the relationship between nature environment and city function by create the sence of seperation and corporated to landscape."

exp2: cryengine enviroment week1

my design is inspired by Tadao's project '4*4-home-design-in Kobe', this is an impressive building built in height of 4km from the island Aewaji. the main idea of his design is to capture the view of the ocean.according to Tadao:"the landscape that frames this cube is an overview that cover the inland sea."
here is my design below due to his inspiration.

i locate my model on the coast, with the view of little rocky island not far away. in my third image, the building evokes an open space to the ocean.

Tadao Ando:
The private aspect of Ando’s architecture focuses upon providing an enclosed area, primarily for the individual unaffected by external factors.
The rectangular geometrical properties of the façade give a sense of volume and space, by interweaving the interior and exterior spaces through complex three dimensional circulation paths.
The use of light is evident in Ando’s architecture, creating a sense of exterior light penetrating the interior.

Walter Burley Gurley:
Group of buildings faced one another to give that sense of separation and administrative zones.
Geometry—design with landscape.

Designing with nature---preserving access to and views of native bush land and being sensitive to natural features such as escarpments, creeks, rocky outcrops and established trees.

Tadao Ando(living)....Water Burley Griffin(dead)

Tadao projects:
 1.church of the lights
2.4*4 home design in kobe
3. untitled
4.tomishima house

Walter projects:
 1.canberra prelim-plan
2.incinerator+theatre
concept:
tadao ando:
1. The use of light is evident in Ando’s architecture, creating a sense of exterior light penetrating the interior.
2. The rectangular geometrical properties of the façade give a sense of volume and space, by interweaving the interior and exterior spaces through complex three dimensional circulation paths.
3. Ando’s architecture brings forth an idea of connecting to a landscape; the use of glass material accentuates the connection between the external environments to the interior, whilst following the natural form of landscape.
4. The private aspect of Ando’s architecture focuses upon providing an enclosed area, primarily for the individual unaffected by external factors.
5. Concrete is infused within Ando’s architecture to portray a relationship between a material and the volume of the structure.

Walter Burley Griffin:
1) Designing with nature---preserving access to and views of native bush land and being sensitive to natural features such as escarpments, creeks, rocky outcrops and established trees.
2) Geometry—making use of the natural environments geometry in designing the planning of both Canberra and Castlecrag.
3) Group of buildings faced one another to give that sense of separation and administrative zones.
4) Explores the connection between the natural form and city purpose.
5) They have recreational areas which encourages social interaction.
